Interesting jobs for students
Your studies are just right for you, but you would also like to gain some initial professional experience? As we also consider this to be very important, we offer you various opportunities at BKS Rechtsanwälte. As an intern, working student or trainee lawyer, you can put into practice what you have already learnt during your studies and get to know the special features of our exciting specialisations in tax law and company law at first hand. You are interested in these areas and can you see yourself working in our strong team? Then we look forward to supporting you as you take your first steps into the world of work!

1 You’ve come to the right place!
Regardless of whether you just want to get a glimpse of what we do or would like to join us on a more intensive basis, it is important for both sides to get to know each other briefly to see if we are a good match. If this is the case, we can consider together how you can best become part of our team.
If you have to do your legal clerkship for your second state exam, you are welcome to complete the necessary elective and lawyer training stages with us. This will give you in-depth insights into our specialist areas and you will primarily deal with issues relating to civil, commercial and company law, tax law and civil procedural law. If the second state exam is just around the corner, we will be happy to arrange a period of time off with you to prepare for this. It is also possible to work for us as a research assistant alongside your doctorate.
If you would like to immerse yourself in practical legal work at an earlier stage, you can do so at BKS Rechtsanwälte as a working student during your law studies or before your legal clerkship. During the lecture period, the working week is set at a maximum of 20 hours, although we are happy to be flexible when it comes to organising working hours to suit students' wishes. You are welcome to work more during the lecture-free period, which the BKS Rechtsanwälte team is usually very happy about.
For law students wishing to get a taste of the working world for a shorter period of time, we offer paid voluntary internships as well as mandatory internships. If one of your specialisations is tax law during your studies, this would obviously be ideal, but it is not a must in order for you to do an internship with us - your general interest in the field is sufficient. Your internship should last at least six weeks so that you can get a good idea of our work. If you feel comfortable with us and enjoy the work, we would be happy to discuss employment as a working student.
2 Varied tasks provide in-depth insights
Whether during your legal clerkship, as a working student or while doing an internship - at BKS Rechtsanwälte you will be actively involved in all aspects of day-to-day business. This comprehensive involvement in the varied tasks of the law firm will teach you a great deal and give you an authentic impression of the practical work of a lawyer.
During your time with us, you will have your own fully equipped workplace where you can carry out typical legal tasks, such as
- Researching and examining legal issues,
- Preparation of file notes,
- Drafting of documents and contracts as well as
- Writing articles on current legal topics.
You will also have your own access to the legal database beck-online and take part in client meetings and court hearings as well as internal team meetings and specialist presentations. In particular, you will gain insights into company law, tax law and criminal tax law. Thanks to our close links with HLB Stückmann, you will also learn a lot about other specialist fields. And of course you will also be involved in our celebrations such as our summer festival or Christmas party.
3 Why you should already join us during your studies
It has been confirmed time and time again - those who get a taste of professional practice during their studies already have a much clearer idea of the area in which they would like to work when they start their career. And the professional experience you have already gained can also be the deciding factor in getting your dream job.
Theory and practice can sometimes be very far apart. You will certainly experience this more often as a trainee, working student or legal trainee at BKS Rechtsanwälte. That is why it is so important to familiarise yourself with professional practice while you are still studying. We will involve you in our work according to your level of knowledge and will entrust you with increasingly responsible tasks over time.
Practical experience is irreplaceable when it comes to answering the question of what to do after graduating. If you have a dream job, for example, you can find out whether it really suits you during your legal clerkship. An insight into everyday working life, for example during an internship at BKS Rechtsanwälte, can also lead to the development of a new and intense interest in an area that you had not previously considered. Actively working as a staff member in our law firm and immersing yourself intensively in the work of a lawyer will give you a good idea of what you would like to do afterwards, especially when you are about to finish your studies.
As part of this orientation, it is extremely helpful to talk to experienced colleagues at BKS Rechtsanwälte. They can explain to you which requirements are associated with which career path and give you an assessment of which professional direction they recommend based on your profile and potential.
Other good reasons for students to acquire their practical know-how at BKS Rechtsanwälte are
- our particularly exciting areas of specialisation,
- our clients, that vary in size and come from a wide range of industries, with many interesting tasks and
- the family-like character of our law firm, where students are well looked after and supported.
4 We will support you on all levels
It goes without saying that we will support you to the best of our ability during your student work placement in our law firm. Your colleagues will always have an open ear for you and our short lines of communication will ensure that you are provided with the necessary information as quickly as possible. In addition, you can network really well with us, which can be very useful for your future professional career.
As a student working with us, you will be supported by a mentor who will be available to answer your questions and make you feel at home. Very often, however, your colleagues in the same office will be able to give you relevant information and advice. They usually know exactly how they can best support their student colleagues, after all, they too have taken the step from studying to working life - perhaps even at BKS Rechtsanwälte. As we realise that monotonous tasks are no fun in the long term, we also provide working students with interesting, varied tasks. If, for example, they stay with us for longer, they receive some special benefits just like permanent employees and an assessment of their professional development in an annual review.
Furthermore, we recommend that you network as extensively as possible during your time as a student at BKS Rechtsanwälte. This will not only help you with current issues, but can also prove to be very valuable in the further course of your professional life. For example, when you are planning your career entry later on, you can approach your contacts at our firm directly and talk to them about a possible employment at BKS Rechtsanwälte. Or they can provide you with advice on how you can best pursue your desired career path. You simply can't have enough good contacts.
